Geoffrey Stern, Managing Member

Geoffrey Stern is the Founder and Managing Member of Muirfield. Mr. Stern has served as the Managing Member and Chief Investment Officer of Muirfield since 2001.

Prior to starting Muirfield, Mr. Stern served as a Senior Managing Director at DLJ for 20 years, where he represented corporations and Boards of Directors in acquisitions and privatization transactions, as well as financing and restructurings. He was also a Senior Managing Director in DLJ’s Mergers & Acquisitions department and served on DLJ’s Fairness & Valuation Committee. Mr. Stern also previously served as the Co-Head of Mergers & Acquisitions at Prudential Securities.

Stern received his M.B.A. from UCLA’s Anderson School of business and his B.A. from Haverford College.

John Chalsty, former Chairman

John Chalsty served as the Chairman of Muirfield from 2002 to 2021. Prior to founding Muirfield, Mr. Chalsty was Chairman and CEO of DLJ until its sale to Credit Suisse First Boston for $13 billion in 2000. During his tenure at DLJ, Mr. Chalsty also served as Head of Investment Banking and Director of Research.

Mr. Chalsty’s previous roles include serving as the Vice Chairman and Director of the New York Stock Exchange, Chairman of the Columbia University Investment Corporation, and as a Trustee of Columbia University from 1997 to 2006. He served as a board member for a number of corporations including AXA Financial, Inc., Occidental Petroleum, Sappi Ltd., Metromedia International Group, Inc., Creditex, and Republic Property Group.

Mr. Chalsty received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
